Great event last year through some of the best countryside the area has to offer. The 25 mile route is about right, but one hill in particular left an everlasting impression. Getting up it without getting off is worthy of a prize like the Tour de France, 'King of the Hill' jersey. Whoever planned the route has a real mean streak!

That hill up into Iveston was the one that got me, have been back since and still couldn't do it, but the ride as a whole was fantastic.

Great day really well organised will be doing it again this year. Route quite hilly for us novices but no problem pushing the bike instead of riding it.

Fantastic days riding,it was a great feeling to be riding with 700 other cyclists. The wind was a killer but not as much as the hill at Iveston. Roll on ride number 2 !!!

Loved the route ,practised it a few times , but did'nt have any trouble with the hills , completed it in just under 2 hours which was my target , cant wait for the next one , and may be improve on last year.

The Iveston bank should be OK as I've fitted a lower bottom gear to my trike. On the other hand I'll be a year older. Time will tell!

I am a pure novice at distant bike rides and have done "The Great North Ride" (30 miles) and "The Great Forest Ride" (26 miles) over the last few years but The Durham Big Ride was by far the toughest, mainly because of the strong wind on the day but I am very much looking forward to the next one in September. I think a little more training will be in order this time.

what a ride, great views great people. Just hope this year i can do it on my bike and not one of the heavy St John Ambulance Bikes, mind i did have that supply of oxygen just incase !

Good ride apart from hitting a bridge near bearpark and going over the top into a ditch. Many thanks to the three ladies who heard my cries and got me out. Would agree found it much harder than the Great North Bike Ride (54 miles) and a 100 mile one from Leicester to Skegness. Looking forward to completing it without incident this year.

Really enjoyed the ride last year - great event. Not looking forward to the infamous 'hill' but apart from that, can't wait!!

Hiya, I'm looking forward to taking part in this year's bike ride with my son Glen who is special needs. We'll be riding our tandem round the 3 miler and hope people will support us. It's a great way to get exercise and a fun with my son at the same time in a safe environment. Thank you. Please Sponsor Us ! for the Special Needs Childrens' Carnivals. A really worthy cause. Details of which can be seen at www.freewebs.com/sncc2007

JUST LETTING YOU KNOW that Jez Averey - a great stunt rider has been booked in for the entertainment for this year's event. Jez is well worth seeing and is part of the "after ride" entertainment. There will be plenty to see and do after the ride so don’t hurry home!

My partner took part last year to raise money for charity. Yes, it's meant to be fun, but could people please think about doing this for charity...he met a lot of professional and semi-professional cyclists, amongst others, who simply never thought about it. It can be for any charity and if someone is going to do it anyway, then why not also for a good cause?

NOT LONG TO GO... There will be plenty to keep you going on the rides this year and plenty of entertainment after the ride. There is more information in your ride number letter or look on the website. Ed
